Department Overview

Diabetology department at Annai Arul Hospital aims to provide the best possible patient care by incorporating the latest therapeutic advances for the prevention and management of Diabetes.Problems of Diabetes are dealt within the hospital in association with the Diabetologist and associated specialities. Examples include: diabetic renal disease, management of obesity, diabetic neuropathy (diabetes affecting the nerves).

Life becoming too busy has made way for many complications where gestational diabetes is also on the rise. We at Annai Arul hospital aim to provide positive outcome for mother and child so we have our Diabetologist in consultation with our obstetricians and Dietary Specialists attend to these patients to ensure care and good health for mother and child.

As the effect of diabetes mellitus include long-term damage, dysfunction and failure of various organs, our specialists take appropriate evaluation with timely guidance that can be of immense help to control the disease and lower the risk of complications.

In this area of clinical science, our services include diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. Apart from regulating medication (e.g. insulin) dosage and timing, we are equipped with excellent facility to deal with the potential consequences of diabetes, e.g. retinopathy, nephropathy, Hypertension and peripheral neuropathy and many other associated diseases.

Our facilities include Insulin Pumps, Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS), Biothesiometry, Foot Doppler and we are planning to start evaluation using Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathic System (CANS) in the near future.
